Interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Materials Simulation

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Materials Simulation (ICAMS) is a research centre at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany in 2005. ICAMS is linked to the Institute of Materials (RUB), the Department of Ferrous Metallurgy (RWTH-Aachen) and the Max-Planck Institute for Iron Research (Düsseldorf). The Board of Directors is headed by the Managing Director PROF. DR. Ralf Drautz. It comprises six members: the three ICAMS professors and representatives of the students, the scientific and the non-scientific staff. Representatives of the Advanced Study Groups are also present during the board’s meetings. ICAMS departments include Atomistic Modelling and Simulation, Scalebridging Thermodynamic and Kinetic Simulation, Micromechanical and Macroscopic Modelling. Interactive Robots and Media Lab include High-Performance Computing in Materials Science and Advanced Study Groups include Modelling, input data and validation, Processing and Characterization, diffusion and microstructure analysis. ICAMS is working with several institutions, mostly universities, across Europe, North-America and Asia. More than 2000 publications are there for the current research in materials simulation. The ICAMS member consist of more than 70 faculties including professors, associate professors and also guests and visitors faculties from the top notch universities of oxford and Sweden for more than about 30.
