International Business Academy

Over the past 100 years, Kolding Business School has developed from a small local evening school to a major educational institution. After merging with business schools in Fredericia (2002) and Aabenraa (2004), and given the new name of International Business College (IBC), the school now has than 6000 students, of which 3,400 are full-time.

Degree-level study programmes began in Kolding in 1982 and from 1991 the higher education department was named The International Business Academy (IBA), offering students the opportunity to undertake practical work placements and study exchanges throughout the world as an integral part of their study. In 1994 the IBA achieved its first overseas accreditation, for the award of Diploma of Higher Education.

In 1996 the degree of Bachelor with Honours in International Business was introduced, with the final year taught by e-learning, followed in 2002 by a Master of Science (MSc), also in International Business - both degrees developed in co-operation with, and validated by, London South Bank University. In 2006 an Executive MBA was started in co-operation with Coventry University. In 2007 a new degree in European Business was introduced at the IBA in co-operation with Coventry University and Leuven Business School, Belgium, offering students the unique opportunity to study for a three year Bachelor with Honours degree in three different countries.

Since it began in 1991, the IBA has focused on developing the strongest possible links with educational institutions throughout the world, as well as in Denmark where it is affiliated with EA Kolding. The IBA is a long-standing member of the Network of International Business Schools and also has strong partnerships with many companies and organisations worldwide.

Currently, there are approximately 800 students on IBA programmes. Students come from Denmark and abroad and they form the basis for an interesting, attractive and international study environment. Locally, regionally, nationally and globally, the IBA is today synonymous with high-quality international business education.
