Jimma University, has been established in the year 1999, when two well established colleges Jimma College of Agriculture and Jimma Institute of Health Sciences have come together to form as an single university. These campuses are located in the Jimma regions of Ethiopian country. The total area of these campuses is estimated to be 167 hectares.
Journal of Social Sciences and Language Studies (EJSSLS), Journal of Education and Sciences (EJES), Journal of Applied Sciences and Technology (EJAST) and Journal of Health Science are journals under University, publishing some best research works from university as well as from other scientific community.
The colleges that participate in conducting several academic programmes with Jimma University are College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, College of Business & Economics, College of Public Health & Medical Science and College of Social Science and Law. There are institutions that participate in research programmes of the university, such as Jimma Institute of Technology, Institute of Professional development Studies and Institute of Health Science research.
