Jining University is a full-time comprehensive four-year university that is located in Qufu, the oriental holy city as well as the birthplace of one of the greatest thinkers and educators in the world, Confucius. With the airport, the high-speed train station and the express way nearby, it is quite convenient to get to this place. The city of Qufu, being the cradle of Confucianism, has a long brilliant history. Taking root in the hometown of Confucius and Mencius, the university has been shouldering the task of carrying forward the essence of traditional Chinese culture. It has produced more than 60 thousand qualified graduates since its establishment in 1950s. In recent years, the university has established good relations with universities from the USA, Sweden, Russia, South Korea and so on and carried out the cooperative education, teacher’s exchange program and collaborative research. Nowadays, we are open to the overseas students who intend to study Chinese, Confucian culture, handwriting, martial art and the like.
Academic Campus:
The campus of Jining University covers an area of 1,000,998 square meters and the total building area reaches about 404,800 square meters. The university consists of 13 departments such as the department of Chinese language and literature, department of foreign languages, department of culture transmission etc. Theses departments focus on 53 majors, among which four majors including Chinese education have been appraised as Shandong Special Majors. The psychology courses, together with other seven courses have been listed as the Excellent Courses of Shandong Province. The university offers non-degree Language Program: Chinese language courses. The program lasts 1 or 2 years. The program certificate will be awarded after the course work is finished. Common Non-degree Program: Foreign students taking refresher course may choose to have classes together with Chinese students or have separate courses according to the subject offered. Refresher certificates will be awarded after passing examinations. Undergraduates: Course work is completed in 4 years in accordance with China’s education system and educational planning for Chinese undergraduates. A Bachelor’s degree will be given after mandatory examinations are passed and a graduate thesis is completed.
Statistics:
Currently, the total number of the teaching staff is 936 including 36 professors and 160 associate professors. More than 10 foreign experts have been working here. The full-time enrollment of the students is 11,950. The building area of the library is 40,000 square meters with a collection of one million and two hundred thousand volumes.

The research articles of the university are published in top most journals such as NATURE’S COMMUNICATIONS.
