Johannelund Theological Seminary

The Johannelund Theological Seminary is an independent college/theological seminary, founded in 1862 and located in Uppsala, Sweden. The seminary is basically known for its excellence in theological education. The college offers tailored programs in theology for its students. In addition to offering a three-year bachelors degree in theology, the seminary offers graduate-level courses in cooperation with Uppsala University and Linkoping University. In addition, there is a Bible school located on campus offering a one-year certificate in theology. Also, certain programs have specific profiles, such as counseling or charismatic theology.

Students who complete the various course programs offered by the Johannelund Theological Seminary may get an opportunity to make their career in the ministry in the Church of Sweden or the Swedish Evangelical Mission. There are three university level institutions in Johannelund that prepare candidates for ministry in the Church of Sweden through its various courses. The Johannelund Theological Seminary is one of them.

The wide range of course programs offered by the Johannelund Theological Seminary also provide the students an opportunity to build their career in a wide variety of non-ordained ministries, including education, missions and social service. Several other course programs are also available in the university college. For example, the students may get enrolled in the course program named as Theology for Life. This program targets those who are interested in growing as Christians and in developing their ministries at home, at work, in society, and in the local church.

The various programs offered by the university college are a unique combination of theological and pastoral courses, as well as mentor groups. Other facilities in the university include a locally renowned cafeteria, a well-stocked library, and comfortable dormitory facilities. The School has several internationally well renowned scholars as affiliated researchers or professors, and publish the Nordic Academic Journal Theofilos in cooperation with NLA, Norway. The School has exchange programmes with many other theological institutions like Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA; Wycliffe Hall of Oxford University, England; Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; MF Norwegian School of Theology in Oslo, Norway.
