Introduction: Copenhagen School of Design and Technology is an Academy of Higher Education which offers over 30 different educational programmes at Bachelor degree and Academy Professional degree levels situated in Copenhagen. The Institute offers a wide range of programmes in English within the fields of Design, Communication, Construction and Technology. We have students from more than 70 different nations and plan to increase the number of incoming students even further. The institute is established as an international educational institution with many exchanges both to and from KEA by both students and teachers. This gives the students a wealth of international contacts that are crucial in a globalized marketplace.
Academics: KEA offers programmes at 3 different levels of education, which are Academy Profession Degree Programme (AP), Top-Up Bachelor Degree Programme (BA) and Bachelor Degree Programme (BA). An Academy Profession programme is a higher education with a duration of 2 years, which consists of four semesters which add up to 120 ECTS points. Top-up programmes take 1½ years and consist of three semesters which add up to 90 ECTS points. A full Bachelor Degree programme takes 3½ years. The programme consists of seven semesters which add up to 210 ECTS points.
Statistics: KEA has a total of 5300 Full time students, 1360 International full time students and 4700 Part time students training (KEA Competence) and about 600 employees. 24% of the students get their jobs through their internships, 27% of the students get jobs through their network, whereas, 63% of the students are considering opening their own business.
Research and Development: KEA Centre has been thinking across academic traditions and develops projects that challenge the status quo in the centre of action. The projects are the other activities characterized by a linkage between practice and theory. They must therefore be rooted in practice, generate and disseminate knowledge and developed in relation to and with relevant internal and external stakeholders. With the establishment of a Learning Laboratory, a group of teachers from KEAs PBA Design / Business-education obtained a community of practice, where it is possible to share and learn from each other. The project, which is aimed at students from the Technical Engineering School of Copenhagen (MSK) and students from KEAs energy technologist training, aims to create a teaching program focusing on entrepreneurship, development of ideas and innovation.
