King Edward VII Hospital

About King Edward VII Hospital
King Edward VII Hospital had its beginnings in 1899, when sisters Agnes and Fanny Keyser devoted themselves and their home to caring for sick and wounded officers returning from the Second Boer War. For more than 100 years, these foundations have enabled us to meet medical needs and advances with consistent clinical excellence. Established in Beaumont Street in the heart of London’s Harley Street district since 1948, we are the only hospital in the UK where consultants must be invited to practise. Centre of Excellence: PAIN AND NEUROSCIENCE
Managing Pain

Many people struggle with pain. This can be caused by an injury, a long-term condition, or sometimes pain is a condition in its own right.

At King Edward VII’s Hospital, they understand pain and how it can affect us both physically and emotionally. That’s why they have developed a specialist, integrated pain centre which brings together world-renowned experts in pain management who will work together to make sure you get the right support. It means they guarantee us the highest-quality care and solutions for all types of pain.
In addition to the one-to-one care they offer to all patients, run several programmes which we can access if appropriate. These programmes are run by the multidisciplinary team and include:

• Intensive pain management programmes for those with back pain.
• Specialised programmes (such as for pelvic pain, headaches and facial pain).
• Inpatient pain management programmes, specialised around drug reduction or optimisation.

Surgical Specialities
King Edward VIIs Hospital offers a comprehensive range of surgery from day cases to the most complex procedures. They carefully handpicked the top surgeons from different disciplines, ensuring  can offer the best possible treatment, whatever your surgical requirements might be. Our surgical consultants are supported by a strong multidisciplinary team and excellent nursing care. Procedures take place in our three state-of-the-art operating theatres. Two of the theatres are equipped with laminar airflow technology which gives extra prevention against the risk of airborne contamination and surgical site infections. We also have our own 24-hour critical care unit, staffed by specialist intensive care clinicians and nurses. This allows to look after our most seriously ill patients on site, avoiding any stress or disruption caused by transfer to another hospital.
