Kumoh National Institute of Technology is a national research and business development (R&BD) university in the Republic of Korea (South Korea). It is located in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, South Korea. Kumoh National Institute of Technology was founded on December 31, 1979 by Park Chung-hee, the former President of South Korea. In 1987, a graduate school was established for both master and Ph.D. courses such as mechanical engineering, electronic engineering and civil engineering. KIT turned into a national institute on March 1990. On December 30, 2004 KIT moved to the new campus located in Yangho-dong. KIT is presently the only national university for engineering in Korea. kit has been recognized for having infinite potential for growth, a high-quality practical education system, and a high employment rate. From 2013, we set a new goal to become an R&BD specialized university for cultivating creative engineers. Therefore we are going to elevate the status as the most powerful national engineering university by developing scientific technology and multifunctional talents, leading the industry-academy cooperative research based on challenging and creative spirits, and becoming a glocal university with regional communities. kit has made remarkable accomplishments and could reconfirm its upgraded status as being selected for the Education Capacity. Enhancement Project for six consecutive years and as the best university in the Industry Evaluation. Kit continuously evolves into a leader in the university education culture instead of simply remaining as an engineering institute. Future education should focus on nurturing creative talented individuals and contributing to the development of regional communities. To this end, universities have to make innovations in the fields of education, research, and cooperation of academy and business. Matching the changes in universities, kit changes the education system to develop sufficient experience-based self-directed engineers, and strengthens the foundation for developing regional communities and the nation by training multifunctional. In 2015, kit has newly established a future-oriented vision to match the current status as a global university based on philosophy and ideology that continued ever since the foundation. With the new vision based on traditional ideology and concept of talent, kit will take a step forward as a university specialized in growing creative talents. Since its establishment in 1980, kit has promoted the development of the national technology industry! There is no limit to the stride of kit which leads the history and the future of Koreaâs technology industry. Kit will continue to seek challenge and passion until the creative economy is realized. Also, foreign students have opportunity to get a Korean Government Scholarship provided by NIIED (National Institute of International Education). Many kinds of internal and external scholarships are provided to excellent students and economically challenged students so that they may concentrate on their studies. Kit dormitory was established to provide students with convenience for study and contributes to improving studentsâ self-controlling ability and responsibility by sharing a space and fostering an academic atmosphere of the university. The dormitory accommodating a total of 1,650 students is divided into the existing Pureum Hall built by the BTL private investment project and the new Oreum Hall.
