Established in 1954, Kwangshin University is a private higher education institution located in the large city of Gwangju (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited/recognized by the Ministry of Education, Korea, Kwangshin University is a coeducational higher education institution.
Kwangshin University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Kwangshin University also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, financial aids and/or scholarships, as well as administrative services. And some of the required courses are exempted from the theological classes. Graduates (after 3 weeks of general meeting) can be ministered as ministers after they have been ordained by the joint ministry of the Korean Presbyterian Church, Missionary ministry Mission can prove to be one of the strengths of the fanatic. Those who are called to mission work as missionaries in other countries after ordination of the denomination. It is sent to missionary training in each country as a result of mission training of the denomination (joint) general assembly. Currently, many missionaries who graduated from our university are active as professional missionaries in Russia, Thailand, China, Laos, Mongolia, Japan, Tanzania, New Zealand and Australia. The help of seniors in the mission field makes missionary work more efficient. A military officer A student who is willing to serve as a military officer is appointed as a chaplain (captain) through selection examinations of candidates for military service officers administered by the Ministry of National Defense. Those who pass the selection test receive scholarships for the full amount of tuition for undergraduate and theological graduate schools. Currently, there are past alumni such as Pastor Yoo Jun (Captain), Pastor Jung Kwang Hee (Captain), Pastor Kim Hyun Jin (Captain).
Act as a theologian Those who want to pursue deeper theological studies enter the Th.M & Ph.D course of our graduate school. Students wanting to study abroad can go to leading foreign universities like their predecessors in Europe, the US, Canada, and so on. After obtaining his Ph.D. degree, he is also open to the way of standing on the pulpit of his alma mater or acting as a theologian. Ministry at school Depending on the needs of many churches in the region, they can serve as evangelists and professional ministers of the church or in various Christian organizations. Many current students of the Department of theology are currently ministering to local churches.
