National cancer institute was under the authorization of US Congress according to the National cancer act of 1937. NCI is a component of the National institute of health which is one of the eight agencies that compose the public health service in the Department of Health and Human Services. The national cancer act of 1971 broadened the scope and responsibilities of the NCI and created the national cancer program. The national cancer institute coordinates the national cancer program which conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination and other programs such as cause, diagnosis, prevention. And treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer and the continuous care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients.
