Mälardalen University is a public university located in Västerås and Eskilstuna, Sweden. It offers 51 programmes and 1,000 courses. It has a faculty of 900 and the student enrollement is around 13,000. The university is organized into 4 schools, School of Health, Care and Social Welfare, School of Education, Culture and Communication, School of Sustainable Development of Society and Technology, School of Innovation, Design and Engineering.. MDH conducts excellent research in the Embedded Systems specialisation and prominent research in Health and Welfare as well as the technological and engineering specialisations in Innovation and Product Realisation, and Future Energy. In 1999 MDH became the first higher education institution (HEI) in the world to be environmentally certified. The university has many partnerships with major public sector units in Sweden.
