Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation

The “Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation” (MaCCI) is a research association of ZEW and the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Mannheim. It receives funding from the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Leibniz Association. “Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation” strengthens the exchange between researchers of law and economics and, thus, gives impetus in terms of competition policy, regulation, and innovation. Core issues analysed by “Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation” include vertical competition restraints, abuse of market power, merger control, public and private enforcement of competition law, regulation in the markets for telecommunication and energy and competition in the health sector. Its major objective is to stimulate and disseminate research in the area of competition, regulation and innovation policy. About 70 researchers are members of “Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation”. Each year, “Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation” (co-) organizes a number of scientific events, particularly conferences and workshops for both young and experienced researchers. “Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation” research contributes to fundamental problems in economics and law as they apply to competition, regulation and innovation issues. “Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation” projects and publications also contribute to the ongoing policy debate at the international, European and German level.
