We are committed to improving cardiovascular health through innovative research and education. Our vision is to create a world without heart and vascular disease. Our work impacts people who are affected by heart and vascular disease, and their friends, families, caregivers and communities. By sharing our research findings, we are improving care throughout the world. Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation® study finds that presence of cardiac arrest and/or cardiogenic shock is responsible for more than 75% of hospital deaths in STEMI patients. The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation will educate professionals about advancements in cardiovascular medicine through the Journal of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation Researcher, Dr. Nicholas Burke, spoke with WCCO News Radio about new research that suggests sugar, not fat, is the main culprit behind coronary heart disease. Research: Focuses mainly on VALVE SCIENCE CENTER, POPULATION HEALTH, ADVANCED CARDIOVASCULAR IMAGING, CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE PREVENTION, CARDIAC RHYTHM DISORDERS, CARDIOVASCULAR STEM CELL, CARDIAC SURGERY, CARDIAC VALVE. The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation® offers one of the most outstanding and unique research internship opportunities available to undergraduate premed students and those studying in other health care disciplines. Working with physician and research staff mentors, interns contribute to clinical research studies and publications that impact patient care. Each year, the work of former interns is part of 10 presentations at national scientific meetings and 9 publications in peer-reviewed journals. During their 12-week internships, interns spend nearly 11+ days on shadowing, observations and other field trips.
