Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications
Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications was established in 1942 and was one of the earliest schools of our Party and army for systematically training telecommunication talents. In 1958, it was converted into Nanjing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications upon the approval of the State Council. In April 2005, it was renamed as Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Having been a key university directly under the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (now the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) before, the institute was in February 2000 turned over to the co-administration by the Jiangsu Government and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with the Jiangsu Government assuming the main administration.

NUPT now runs 3 mobile post-doctoral stations, 3 first-level discipline doctorate programs, 14 second-level discipline doctorate programs, 10 first-level discipline master’s degree programs, 34 second-level discipline master’s degree programs, 13 Profession-oriented master’s degree programs (fields), and 53 undergraduate programs. Three programs of the university have made the world’s top 1% on the ranking by ESI. NUPT is home to 7 National Special Major Trial Programs, 1 Trial Program of National Comprehensive Degree Program Reform, 3 Majors passed the National Engineering Education Professional Certification, 18 Jiangsu-funded Special Programs or trial ones, 8 National Excellence Initiative Programs, 18 Jiangsu Brandname Special Programs (or under development), 5 Jiangsu Brandname University Programs (Phase one), 5 Jiangsu Excellence Initiative Programs, 9 Jiangsu Key Programs. The university now offers education to around a total of 30000 students. ãã
NUPT has a total of 2300 faculty members including 561 supervisors to Ph. D and Master’s degree candidates. Among them, 53.28% have earned advanced/higher professional titles, and 91.11% possess Doctoral and Master’s degrees. NUPT Library owns a collection of about 2,110,000 paperback books, a good proportion of which concern such fields as information, telecommunications and electronics.
