Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute

Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) is a cancer care hospital and one of the 25 Regional Cancer Centres in India. It was founded on January 2, 1950, as Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital, named after Chittaranjan Das, who donated land and property for the cause. It is located in Kolkata near Jatin Das Park metro station and Hazra. Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI), Kolkata is an autonomous organization under the administrative control of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India that functions as a Regional Cancer Centre. Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute began its research efforts in 1957. At that time research activities at this institute had emphasized on the understanding of the biology of cancer particularly of the predominant types viz. oral cavity and uterine cervix. Today, Research at CNCI has reorganized in its infrastructure both for basic and clinical research to include need-based contemporary as well as futuristic research areas
