National Center for Metallurgical Research

The National Center for Metallurgical Research, CENIM, created in 1963 by agreement of the Superior Council for Scientific Research, in order to centralize within a single agency the activities performed the Institute of Welding , founded in 1946, the Institute of Iron and of Steel , in 1947, and the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals , in 1958, all of them belonging to the Board of Juan de la Cierva. With the extinction of the Board in 1977, CENIM becomes directly dependent on the Higher Council for Scientific Research, CSIC.
