National lnstitute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER)is an autonomous institution established under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers at Hajipur, district Vaishali, Bihar It is being set up as a centre of excellence for higher education, research and development in pharmaceutical sciences under Act of Parliament(NIPER ACT 1998).
The Institute is conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and other related areas and admits students for M.S.(Pharm.) Pharmaco-informatics, M.Pharm. Pharmacy Practice and M.S.(Pharm.) Biotechnology to begin with. Subsequently more postgraduate and doctoral programmes courses would be added on the lines of NIPER,SASNagar, Mohali (Punjab). A full-fledged campus is envisaged to set up on 100 acres of land to be allotted by Bihar Government near the present site. It would be the Endeavour of the Government to setup the permanent campus in public-private partnership model to the extent possible.
The institute offers Masters and Doctoral degrees in pharmaceutical sciences. As an Institute of National Importance it plays an important role in the Human Resource Development for the ever growing Indian Pharmaceutical industry, which has been in the forefront of India’s science-based industries with wide ranging capabilities in this important field of drug manufacture. Under the Mentor institute, RMRIMS, Patna, the institute offers a 2 year MS(Pharm) degree course and PhD Degree; MS (Pharm.) in 3 disciplines ( Pharmacoinformatics, Biotechnology and Pharmacy Practice) and Also PhD degree in all three branch.
