The Psychiatric University Clinic Zurich ensures the psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care of the inhabitants in the city and in the Greater Zurich area. The spectrum of treatments covers the treatment of mental illnesses over the entire life span. As a university clinic, it is also involved in teaching and research and is very well networked internationally. The founding of the clinic was largely due to Wilhelm Griesinger , who had influenced the psychiatry of his time: Griesinger propagated a more modern and more human image of the patient. From 1860 to 1865 he was head of the Clinic for Internal Medicine in Zurich and became the founding father of the clinic.
