Quzhou University (QZU) is a public comprehensive applied university with special emphasis on science and engineering. Its origin goes back to the West Branch of the Zhejiang University of Technology (WBZUT), which was set up in 1985 by the Juhua Group Corporation. Since July 2003 it has been funded by the Municipal Government of Quzhou. In March 2010 it was granted university status by the Education Ministry. QZU consists of seven colleges, namely College of Chemical and Materials Engineering, College of Mechanical Engineering, College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, College of Electrical and Information Engineering, College of Economy and Trade management, College of Teacher Education and College of Foreign Languages. It also has several teaching units, such as College of Entrepreneurship & Innovation (Engineering Training Center), Department of Social Sciences, Department of Public Physical Education and College of Continuing Education. The university offers 22 undergraduate programs and 12 professional training programs. At present, there are more than 7,400 full-time students on campus, 5,200 plus undergraduates included. Currently, QZU has 615 teachers, including 410 full-time teachers. There are 46 professors and 117 associate professors. It also has one national-level “The Thousand Talents Plan” candidate, two provincial-level “The Thousand Talents Plan” candidates, sixteen “151 Talents Project” candidates, two provincial-level “Zhijiang Young Social-science Scholars’ Action Plan” candidates, two provincial-level “Young Scientist Cultivation Plan” candidates, and six “Young Discipline Leader of Higher Institutions of Zhejiang province” candidates etc. Furthermore, faculties with practical experience and more than two professional certificates account for 36.24%. Scientific research in the various filed like Marxist philosophy, economics, sociology, ethics, psychology and ideological and political education. And consequently great achievements have been made. In recent years, a large number of monographs and several academic papers have been published. The department once was rated as advanced university level unit in scientific research.
