Salford City College

Salford City College is the Number 1 General Further Education College in Greater Manchester. Based on success rates, Salford City College is the number 1 GFE College, meaning that students have more chance of being successful. It opened on 1 January 2009, as the result of a merger between Salford College, Eccles College and Pendleton College to form a supercollege. The site currently provides AS and A level courses, but also vocational training in many subjects Students may also retake their maths and English GCSEs at the centre. One site which that was a part of Pendleton College is still open and operating under the Salford City College header. Walkden Sixth Form Centre is located on Walkden Road in Worsley. The centre has a range of vocational courses for 16- to 19-year-olds as well as some adult courses such as counselling and access to higher education. Pendleton Sixth Form Centre on Dronfield Road. The building has concrete screens by the artist Alan Boyson. Salford City College offer a wide range of Vocational and A-Level courses across a variety of departments offering superb facilities, great learning experiences and dedicated teaching staff. There are different departments within the college such as Animal Care & Management, Art & Design, Business & Accounting, Childcare, Construction & Trade, Hair & Beauty, Health & Social Care, Humanities, ICT, Languages, Media, Music, Performing Arts, Science, Sports. Salford City College continues to function in the same buildings that the previous colleges had. City Sixth Form Centre is located on Lissadel Street. All of Salford City Colleges construction/trade courses and ESOL courses are held at this centre. Eccles Sixth Form Centre was an independent College, Eccles College that is now part of Salford City College in Eccles, Greater Manchester, England. There are total numer of 5,204 students in the college. All students were ages 16 Years Old+. There are 1,215 employees in Salford City College. The current office holder is Amanda Spielman, since 2017; since August 2016 the Interim Chair of Ofsted has been James Kempton, following the resignation of David Hoare. Salford City College was named as the top General Further Education (GFE) College in Greater Manchester for its 16-18 years old, Adults and Apprenticeships for student success rates for the 2015-2016 academic year (last available data at time of print). These outstanding results place Salford City College within the top ten colleges in the country out of a total of 218 GFE colleges. We are in the top 10% of colleges for performance out of 317 colleges and sixth forms across the whole country. Present research is going on Activity Leadership in Eccles Centre, Health, Fitness and Exercise Instruction in Eccles Centre and Motor Vehicle Studies in City Skills Centre. All these are at Vocational level. Pre-Teaching in Pendleton Sixth Form Centre at A-Level. Through the Young Professionals Academy, students who have a talent and flair for finances,business and accounting are able to pursue these interests through studying the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting in their first year, and the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting in their second year of study. As part of the course structure, students will undertake a six week paid internship with a local employer, and will also be allocated a business mentor.
