Sanko University, 2013 in Gaziantep’t one who started training the private universities. University is the first thematic university in Turkey offering education in the fields of medicine and health sciences, located Ä°ncili Pınar, No:, Gazi Muhtar PaÅa Blv. No:36, 27090 Åehitkamil/Gaziantep, Turkey.
The campus covers an area of 10,000 m2 on 9 floors, and has a car park, cafeterias, masjid, dining hall, library, modern laboratories, and a garden café for students. Its location in the city center is very convenient, being within walking distance of many facilities. Also located on SANKO University’s main campus is the Sani KonukoÄlu Private Hospital where students can get their practical training. Opened in 1996, it is the biggest private hospital in Turkey, having 611 beds and 60,000m2 of workspace.
Situated right next to our main building, the hospital is also one of the country’s most well-equipped. In state-of-the-art conditions, our students will have the opportunity to learn world-class practices in medicine and other health sciences directly from expert instructors with international scientific and academic experience. Students may also take advantage of the facilities in the hospital garden: an ATM, ladies’ hairdresser, health center, exercise room and indoor swimming pool.
Sanko University has a foundation named “The Sani KonukoÄlu Foundation” that was established in 1989 by SANKO Holding and the KonukoÄlu family and a large portion of its income is donated by the founding members and SANKO Holding’s companies. In accordance the Sani KonukoÄlu Foundation has been increasing its services in education and health, and was awarded tax exempt status by Cabinet Decree No. 95/7663 dated on 20.12.1995. In 1997, the Sani KonukoÄlu Foundation was voted “FOUNDATION OF THE YEAR” among 4500 foundations operating in education and health throughout Turkey. On 18 June 2013, SANKO University became ready to go into operation with its establishment per Regulation No. 6492 published in the Official Gazette No.28681. Sanko University was established in Gaziantep to provide education in the field of medicine, and consists of the Main University Building, the Sani KonukoÄlu Private Hospital, and the social facilities of SANKO Private Schools. SANKO University’s main campus is in one of the most central locations in Gaziantep, and is comprised of the main university building and the Sani KonukoÄlu Private Hospital. Both the physical layout and technology of our main building were designed to meet the social and academic requirements of students, and academic and administrative staff.
Just next door is the Sani KonukoÄlu Private Hospital, one of the best equipped hospitals in Turkey. All students and staff of SANKO University may use the SANKO University Cultural Center for social and cultural activities, as well as the Abdulkadir KonukoÄlu Sports and Culture Center (which is part of Sanko Private Schools). Facilities at the disposal of staffs and students for social and cultural activities and sports are the SANKO University Cultural Center and the Abdulkadir KonukoÄlu Sports and Culture Center, which is part of SANKO Private Schools and has a 638-person theatre/performance hall, an indoor half-Olympic swimming pool, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, an outdoor grass soccer field, tennis courts and table tennis. Besides the medical school, SANKO University currently has a faculty of health sciences comprised of nursing, nutrition and dietetics, and physiotherapy and rehabilitation departments and in the future, schools in other disciplines will be opened.
