Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib has been set up to commemorate the historic event of the 400th anniversary of the compilation and first installation of holy Sri Guru Granth Granth Sahib, Located at Fatehgarh Sahib, a place sanctified by the unique martyrdom of the younger sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. The University is fast evolving as a seat of higher learning in the sphere of religious studies as well as in Emerging Technologies. The University has a mandate to focus on intensive study, research and training in areas of world religions; cultures and civilizations; eastern and western thought and other related disciplines of arts & humanities, social sciences, pure & applied sciences, engineering sciences and medical sciences. Core areas of studies, research and teaching will include comprehensive studies and research on Sri Guru Granth Sahib; Sikh theology, philosophy, history, tradition & development of Punjabi language and literature. Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University includes School of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Studies, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, School of Engineering, School of Economics, School of Languages & Literature, School of Performing Arts, School of Social Sciences, School of Education & Sports Technology, School of Emerging Technologies, School of Physiotherapy and Medical Sciences. The university provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. University students participate in numerous sports and cultural events at national and international levels. In past students have brought many laurels to the university through their participation in different sports events. âÃâ¬ÃËPargaasâÃâ¬Ã⢠is annual cultural event of the University in which students from whole of country participate in both academic and non-academic events. It has 3 Undergraduate and 18 postgraduate courses. The University has a dedicated Training and Placement Cell to collaborate industry and academia. To make the students industry-ready, regular training sessions are being conducted which include the activities like GDs, Role Plays, Mock Interviews, Reasoning Tests, Industrial visits etc. Campus drives are held regularly and in the last years many reputed companies like Axis Bank, Deutsche Bank, Tata Docomo, Mozilla, Accrete Globus Technology, Catalyst One and Impinge Solution etc. have recruited our budding professionals to fill their manpower needs. The faculty conducts various research activities. Many projects have been granted to the faculty by government bodies like DST and BRNS. Many students are pursuing research in national and international academic institutions like University of Alabama (United States), Xian Jiaotong University (China), National Institute for Materials Science (Japan), DRDO, CSIO, IITs and BARC. It has 3 research centres which are 1. Guru Nanak Dev Centre for Sikh Music, 2.Guru Arjan Dev Centre for Guru Granth Sahib Studies, 3.Bhai Gurdas Centre for Sikh Studies University publishes 3 research journals in the fields of Sikh studies, Religious studies and Management. Faculty development Programmes and Workshops for students are organized every year on regular basis where faculty and students participate from within and outside the country.
