Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education, (declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 ) Tumkur, was established vide MHRD GOI No. F.9-31/2006-U.3 (A) dated: 30/05/2008 of Govt. of India. Sri Siddhartha Medical College and Sri Siddhartha Dental College have been functioning as constituent colleges of Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education since 01/06/2008. The university is named after Sri Siddhartha ( Gouthama Buddha), the university has located in Agalakote, Tumkur. Further as per Govt. of India notification vide No. F.9-31/2006-U.3(A) Dtd. 16/12/2008, the UGC in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, included Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Maralur, Tumkur, as an off-campus constituent teaching unit of Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education, Tumkur with effect from 06/03/2009. SSAHE has 3 colleges affiliated to it with an intake capacity of over 800 undergraduate students and 200 postgraduate students. The university encompasses technical fields which offers a total of 11 undergraduate and 10 postgraduate courses. The university has around more than 100 PhD candidates. Presently, SSAHE has a TEQIP center and affiliated Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology offering post graduate courses. It has so many departments recognized as research centers which are spread across its affiliated institutions in Tumkur, Karnataka. It is the universities to have 1 of its affiliated college, Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology recognised by the World Bank for getting assistance in setting up state of art laboratories, campus facilities and research centers under the TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (Phase I & II), A Government of India initiative) program. The university strongly encourages professional development activities through CME, CDE and professional Society activities in the respective colleges.
