St. Boniface Hospital Research is located in the St. Bonafice neighbourhood of Winnipeg. It was founded in the year 1871 at Montreal by Sisters of Charity in Montreal. It is affiliated to University of Manitoba. It was the 1st hospital in Western Canada. It has an employment of around 2200 in whom 700 were doctors and 1500 were nurses. It was first started with 4 beds but as of 2003, there were 554 beds and 78 bassinets. Almost 4000 patients admit every year in the hospital and 40000 as outpatients. It is one of the specialised laboratory testing facilities for cardiac care. It has a vast library with vast collection of resources and materials. St. Bonafice Hospital’s current research infrastructure strengthens and accelerates this critical part of clinical research.
