With formation of new rural college at Udaipur in 2000, trailed by another veterinary college at Bikaner in 2010 and as of late three more rural colleges at Jobner, Jodhpur and Kota in year 2013 the purview of the Directorate was restricted to six areas of the state viz. Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh and Sriganganagar with three agro-climatic zones to be specific Irrigated north western plain (Ib), Hyper bone-dry in part flooded western plain (Ic) and parts of transitional plain of inland waste (IIa).
