Swedish Institute / Svenska institutet

The Swedish Institute is a public agency founded in 1945 with the main aim was to develop international cooperation having staff of approximately 140 employees, offices in Stockholm and Paris.
The Swedish Institute helps Sweden reach various international goals concerning foreign policy, education, international aid and growth in the fields such as culture, society, research, higher education, business, innovation, democracy and global development.
This institute promotes interest and confidence in Sweden around the world. SI seeks to create cooperation and long-lasting relations with other countries through strategic communication and exchange in different fields. Working with Sweden’s image abroad and our activities in international development cooperation go hand in hand. Supporting Swedish language instruction at foreign universities also fits into this common schema.
SI acts as a coherent demonstrative of Sweden and of Swedish skills, values and experience in the world. SI operates within the agenda of public diplomacy – understanding, informing, influencing and developing relations with people in other countries – and works closely with Swedish and foreign partners as well as with Swedish embassies and consulates around the world.
The Swedish Institute follows certain focus areas: innovation, environment and sustainability, creativity and culture and society.
