Tamil Nadu Fisheries University (TNFU) is the twentieth college in Tamil Nadu, established in 2012 in Nagapattinam, Nagapattinam region. It was built up under Tamil Nadu Fisheries University Act, 2012.The Act was revised in 2014.Tamil Nadu Fisheries University (TNFU) is the State-subsidized Fisheries University in India giving proficient instruction, research and preparing to upgrade angle creation and use by taking after the State Agricultural University (SAU) example and syllabi. The Department of Fisheries was begun in the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) amid 1973.The Fisheries College, Thoothukudi was set up in 1977 and the main cluster of understudies for B.F.Sc., program were conceded. The Fisheries College was overhauled as Fisheries College and Research Institute (FCRI) amid the year 1989. The Fisheries College and Research Institute (FCRI), Thoothukudi turned into a constituent Institute of the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) with impact from 20.09.1989. The Tamil Nadu Fisheries University (TNFU) was set up on June 19, 2012 with head quarters at Nagapattinam.

Research

The Directorate of Research is co-ordinating and checking the exploration exercises of staff of the Tamil Nadu Fisheries University, Nagapattinam.
