Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University (TNPESU) is a college in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the main only for Physical Training College in India. YMCA school of physical training goes under this college. The Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University set up by an Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2004, is one of a kind and the first of its kind in India as an affiliatory University, solely for Physical Education and Sports. Subsequent to getting the complement from his Excellency the leader of India on 5th August 2005, the said act came into compel with impact from 15th September 2005. It is an uncommon fortuitous event that the University has begun working from December 2005, proclaimed by the United Nations as International year for Sport and Physical Education. At present the University has four Faculties, eleven Departments and ten partnered Colleges. Promote the University now offers select Physical Education and Allied Courses, through community oriented program and Distance Education stream too.

Currently, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University offers Diploma in Movement Education, Adapted Physical Education, Yoga, Coaching, Exercise, Physiology and Nutrition, Sports Psychology and Sociology, Sports Bio-Mechanics & Kinesiology, Production Management, Marketing Management, Infrastructure Management, Sports Marketing and Information System. University also offers UG and PG degree courses. Also research based programmes are also offered in Sports Psychology and Sociology, Sports Bio-Mechanics & Kinesiology. Courses offered by the university, through the Distance Education Program, include MBA in Sports Marketing, Sports Information Technology along with M.Sc. in Information Technology, Psychology and Sports Journalism. Besides PG Diploma in Sports Marketing, Sports Information Technology, Sports Psychology, Sports Journalism are also offered.

Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University was built up in 2004 and end up noticeably operational from September 15, 2005. Coincidently, the year was announced as International year for Sport and Physical Education, by the United Nations. Since its inception, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University has turned into the head foundation in India, in physical training. The university has a total of 25 faculties from various departments. The faculties in the university are mostly M.Phil. degree holder that plays a key role in making the education system in the university strong enough to make the students a keen learner and excel in academics and the physical education as well.
