The Hektoen Institute is one of the nonprofit organizations in the city of Chicago, it was founded by a group of doctors and public-minded civilians were organized in the year 1943 to support research and educational programs outlined to train doctors and any other health professionals in the city of Chicago. It was named after the honour of Ludvig Hektoen, was then a professor of pathology at Rush Medical College, and who was considered to be one of the first to devote prominently and consistently to medical science. It was originally housed at old Durand Building of Cook County Hospital, relocated in the year 1963 to newly constructed Hektoen building and later to present address at 2100, W. Harrison Street.
The Hektoen Institute assists investigators to initiate and manage programs, help them write grants and administer. Hektoen provides research, education, service programmes in the wide scope of medical sciences Gasol Club of Paediatric cardiology: It conducts a variety of educational programs by conducting an academic conference to discuss cases and present topics designed to advance the education, research, and medical practice. This meeting is well known as Gasol Club which meets four times in a year to discuss and teaching young doctor and art of paediatric cardiology. Hektoen Medical Ethics Society: The main goal of this programs to help the physician to overcome the difficulties ethical problems and to gain greater insight into practical solutions and also conducts research on the impact of ethics in medicine and more several affiliated institute.
Chicago Society for the History of Medicine and the Humanities: The Society was founded in 1909 remains active, sponsoring several meetings and lectures on a variety of interesting subjects and others exploring the interface between medicine and the humanities. It also provides several Service Programs on HIV/AIDS, Breast cancer prevention, prevention of domestic violence’s and Tuberculosis. Hektoen supports several research program Antimicrobial Resistance & Infection Prevention Epi-Center it address important scientific questions regarding the prevention of healthcare-associated infections, antibiotic resistance, and other adverse events associated with healthcare. Hektoen it also manages grants that deal with treatment and prevention through clinical trials on drug therapies for patients with associated with breast cancer, operable cancer, colon cancer and drug therapies for the prevention of breast cancer, colorectal cancer and operable carcinoma of the rectum, and lung cancer

Benjamin Gasul, MD is well recognized as one of the fathers of pediatric cardiology in the Unites States. He created active center for congenital heart disease.
