     Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University which is also called as also called Malayalam University which was established in 2012 in Kerala, India and inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in 2012 on first November. K Jayakumar is the first Vice-Chancellor of Malayalam University who was who retired as the Chief Secretary of Kerala and he was a civil servant of the Indian Administrative Service cadre. The Project Report of the University was prepared by Jayakumar.      Thunchath Ezhuthachan "the Father of Malayalam language" was born at Trikkantiyur in Tirur, Kerala. Thunchath Ramanujan Ezhuthachan a Malayalam litterateur whose writings helped in the development of Malayalam as a language with a script of 51 letters, vocabulary and literature and then after the university was named.     The main objectives of the university was to make study of Malayalam language, literature and culture by offering postgraduate courses with high quality academics and also offering job-oriented diploma courses. Initiating the research in critical areas by undertaking the academic and cultural relevant projects, also undertake the publication of journals and books, also encourages translation of Malayalam works into other Indian and foreign languages.      The institute offers various academic programmes, 10 Postgraduate courses like MA in Journalism & Mass Communication, Malayalam Literature Studies, History, Sociology etc., 6 diploma courses like Writing for Television and TV presentation, Script writing and videography, Project Preparation and Evaluation etc. and research programs like M. Phil & Ph. D programmes offered in Linguistics Malayalam Literature Cultural Heritage Media Studies. The administrative structure of the university has a General Council and an Executive Committee, the General Council which form the supreme authority of the university and consists of 10 nominated members, 26 ex officio members and 10 elected members. The Executive Committee consisting of six ex officio members, three elected members and three nominated members which form the chief executive body of the University. The academic matters are under the control of academic committee and even there regulatory powers. The Academic Council is responsible for maintaining high standards of research and study. Justice P. Sathasivam, C. Ravindranath and K. Jayakumar the Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor and Vice Chancellor. of the University of Kerala sate and Justice P. Sathasivam who is the Governor of Kerala and Prof. C. Ravindranath who is the Educational Minister.      Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University Joined Collaborative Projects with Gundert chair established in Tubingen University. The ceremony was conducted for which more than hundred Malayalees was attended from Germany and other European countries. In a major display of art the arts was from Kerala, Mohiniyattam and Kalaripayattu were presented and the main attraction of the event was special display of “Gundert Archives”. A two-day seminar on” Malayalabhashayum Pravasikalum” was also held. As a part of the students exchange programme, the students are exchanged from either of the universities in order to learn the courses offered in that particular universities like three students from the Tubingon University spent a month at the Malayalam University to learn and become Familiarize in malayalam language and to know Kerala heritage. Similarly a batch of three Malayalam University students spent a month at the Tubingon University under the Tunbigon University’s students exchange programme.
