Tonghua Normal University Tonghua Teachers College stands as one of the ancient universities of China, the history of which projects way back to many decades. Tonghua Teachers College is the only college located in the southeastern part of Jilin Province during earlier years. The college has a great educational history and academic importance since the year 1929. The school was initially established as the Liaodong provincial sixth normal school in 1929. The college was run for many years which gradually notified improvement in its academic & educational careers. Later in 1958, following the rebuild of China, the college was rebuilt and named as Tonghua Teachers College at Jilin province. In the year of 1962, the college was closed retaining 20 colleges and universities and eight years later in the year 1970, the college was resumed. In the year 1978, the school officially approved by the Ministry of Education and is named as Tonghua Teachers College.
In 2007, the school passed the Ministry of Education undergraduate teaching level assessment and is eventually developed into a great academic entity through affiliations with various colleges & few research institutes. The school covers a total area of 59.5 million mt sq, a total construction area which is about 253,500 square meters, teaching and research equipment ranging to a total worth of 133504,500 yuan. The college reports a total number of 2,188,900 books collection. The college is linked with 16 secondary colleges and about 2 teaching departments along with 11 major research institutes. The existing full-time undergraduate students range around 10978. The existing staff of the university would be around 801 people among whom 609 members were full-time teaching staff, including 249 senior staff with doctorate or masters degree and remaining staff of 522 people who were still proceeding with their preliminary researches.
In addition to the internal researches that would be executed continuously, the university is associated with many research institutes & organizations. In association with the universities there were provincial colleges and universities humanities and social science bases. Many provincial research laboratories lie within the association of the university. The university holds a research association with global research organizations such as National Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Science and Technology and The National Social Science Fund for about a period of three years. The total number of research programs that were being dealt by all the departments of the university would range around 863 including a few sub-projects and other state-level projects were also included in the same.
