The Toros University is a well-known private university that prevailed in the province of Mersin, Turkey since its initiation. The university was found & established during the recent times. The university was first established in the year 2009, officially by the Mersin Educational Foundation. The Mersin Education Foundation provides services in the fields of education and is a non-profit educational foundation. The Mersin Education Foundation was established in 1979. The foundation was proposed and established by a group of idealistic teachers. Currently, 5 teachers were operating as the Board of Trustees of Mersin Education Foundation and 4 people were serving as the board of directors. Mersin Education Foundation is a leading educational society in various fields in the particular province of Mersin. Mersin Education Foundation was initially established in the ear 1964 by a group of idealistic teachers to attain the development of educational culture and practices within the province of Mersin.
Currently the Toros University is operating with two schools, one as the School of Engineering & other as the School of Economic, Administrative and Social Sciences. The school of Engineering furnishes the students with teaching in the fields of Computer Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Industrial Engineering and Software Engineering. Whereas, Department of Economics stands as the other major pillar of the Toros empire. In addition to the available schools, the Toros administrators have put forward the plan for four other schools. These would be The School of communications; School of Arts; School of Technology and management and also the School of foreign languages. Besides the schools that fall under the Toros, there are three research centers that were affiliated to the University. These could be listed as the Continuous Education Application and Research Center; Aleviation – Bektacilik Application and Research center; Urbanization and Local Administration Application and Research center.
Toros university has grown in term of student & faculty metrics since the establishment in year 2009. In the beginning, the Mersin foundation by only a few members who led the foundations for Toros. Currently the Toros university is operating with a total student count of 1740 ho were being successfully guided by eminent teaching faculty of 530 in number. Among these 350 include all technical & non-technical full time teaching staff whereas the other 170 constitute the non-teaching & partly teaching members along with the guest lectures.
Toros Schools have gained the fame of qualified education amongst many other universities within the province of Mersin. Many graduates were qualified from Toros, who were currently serving successfully within many fields as academicians, technocrats, bureaucrats, artists and business fields both within & away from Turkey. Apart from education & academics, the Toros University always extends a great support for sports within the university. The Toros University Sports Club established by the Mersin Education Foundation has many prominent contributions towards sports activities amongst the schools of Mesrin foundation. Toros Sports Club remains as the primary school for many great athletes who initiated their footsteps at Toros sports club and later had grown to be the nationally recognized athletes & were travelling currently across the globe.
