Toulouse Capitole University

Tolouse 1 university capitole was the second university that was ever established on the french land many centuries ago. The university was first established in the year 1229 in the heart of city of Tolouse. The university holds a great history & prominent importance that turns back to many centuries, revealing the ancient French nation & the socio-economic conditions that prevailed during that time. As of the ancient information available, the university during its initial stages of establishment, supported the teaching of only four specializations. These can be mentioned as Theology, Canon law, Civil law and also the studies of Arts. Later three decades later, in the year 1257, the Medical school of Tolouse was initiated. The University was later closed in the year 1793 as the royal universities were abolished by the French Revolution. In the year 2009, the Toulouse 1 University of Social Sciences was changed to the Toulouse 1 university Capitole.

The Tolouse 1 University of Capitole operates in the heart of the city of Tolouse. The university can be divided into three departments as, Department of Languages and Civilizations, Department of Mathematics and Department of Physical and Sports Activities. Besides the university is framed by few components which include, European School of Law; Toulouse School of Economics; IAE Toulouse - School of Management; IUT of Rodez etc. Along with the Tolouse university of Capitole, the Toulouse 2 University of Literature and Human Sciences and Toulouse 3 University Paul Sabatier of Sciences and Health also exist & were running successfully till today. These were the divisions that were formed from the Tolouse University in later 1880s.

The University extends to an overall area covering about 78,000 m² and is designed suitable to 17,000 students. The currently serving staff including all the teaching and non-teaching along with the administration staff includes about 1045 members. The total student population of the university currently ranges to about 21, 100. The university being the second greatest university on the land of France supports the French government with an annual endowment of €112,000,000. Along with the departments available, a Language Resource Center is also established in the university during the recent times.

Besides the usual study programs that were carried in the university, the university also executes deliberate researches & study programs in various fields of medicine & clinical sciences. The researches that were rapidly carried out in the university include the research by the Federative research institute to bring the legal terms of research closer to promote the high level researches. Besides Federative Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies and Research Health Society also strives for the promotion of researches within the Health societies within the universities. Besides these, other research institutes include, House of Sciences of the Man and Society Toulouse, Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse and the Jean-Jacques Laffont Foundation.
