Tsukuba International University was established in 1973. In 1976 Tsukuba University Hospital was opened and founder of Tsukuba International University was Dr. Jigoro Kano, who is former principal of Tokyo Higher Normal School; and known as the Father of Judo. This university was established as “university with a new vision” and it is an open university. Motto of Tsukuba International University is Imagine the future. Tsukuba International University is offering under graduate and graduate programs with 16,584 students and 4,129 staff. The university is one of the Japanese elite institutions of higher education as part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technologys thirteen "Global 30" selected Project universities. Main research is going on Physics, Economics, Physical Education and Social Science.
