Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco is a public university in Argentina, founded in 1980. Headquarter of the university is located in the city of Comodoro Rivadavia , province of Chubut. University has two campuses in Puerto Madryn and Trelew, the National University of Patagonia and another private confessional, the University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco. UBA and UNPSJB combined their efforts in order to dictate the Bachelors Degree in Political Science at a distance in both institutions in 1991. In 2015, University opened its doors to the inhabitants of the Malvinas Islands. A special scholarship scheme was established and academic offer was translated into English language. Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco offers Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering, Legal Sciences, Natural Sciences and Health Sciences and Economic Sciences. In 1987, university opened doors of its National Museum of the Oil. It is considered as one of the largest in its kind of the world. Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco has collaborated with other universities for progressive development of regional integration especially with the universities of Chile and With the CONICET and with other universities such as universities of Cuyo, Comahue, Southern Patagonia and recently National University of Rio Negro. In 2000, university had 13,656 students in its five venues. By 2015 it has 14,000 students with 5000 in the main school. The academic staff of the university is 2,904. The Secretariat of Science and Technology of the University promotes the development of research activities with budgetary resources assigned annually in the area of Science and Technology by the High Council. There is a critical path for the presentation of the new research projects. Research programs are designed to solve relevant problems in the scientific, technological or social development field, of regional as well as national importance, and favor the joint efforts of the teacher-researchers and allow more complete use of the potentiality of the human resources and the equipment and assets available within the institution. The National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco organizes the working days in which it receives about 70 evaluating teachers from different universities in the country, who will resolve the applications for categorization of research teachers from all universities in the Southern Region.
