Universidad Politecnica de Cartagena was established in 1998. Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (Polytechnic University of Cartagena) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the the urban setting of the large town of Cartagena, Murcia. Universidad Politecnica de Cartagena is a medium sized co-educational university. The Rector of the University is Translation and Localisation. Universidad Politecnica de Cartagena is the youngest university in Spain. UPCT also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sport facilities and/or activities, financial aids and/or scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services. The world rank of Universidad Politecnica de Cartagena is 1252 and 48 rank in the Spain universities.
There are three campuses in the Universidad Politecnica de Cartagena. Campus of Alfonso XIII is the original campus located in the center of the city. Its headquarters are the Agronomic Engineering (ETSIA), Architecture and Building (ETSAE), Naval Engineering (ETSINO) and Road and Mining Engineering (EICM). Muralla del Mar Campus is the second one consists of former Marina Hospital, headquarters of the Industrial School (ETSII), and the former barracks of Antiguones, which houses the School of Telecommunication (ETSIT). This campus is also home to the R & D & I building, which houses the Technological Research Support Service (SAIT), the Institute of Plant Biotechnology (IBV) and the Center for Information Technology and Systems (CTSI); In addition to the Building of Research Laboratories (ELDI), which is the Network of Chairs, and the Student House. Campus CIM, former Barracks of Instruction of Mariners. It houses the Faculty of Sciences of the Company (FCCE).
Universidad Politecnica de Cartagena contains 7210 students. The enrollment range of students is 6,000-6,999. The Network of Chairs occupies more than 1,500 square meters, a space given to companies within the University with the commitment of the same to develop R & D & I activities and to call scholarships for the last students.
Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena divides into technological, entrepreneurial and socioeconomic chairs. All of them carry out training, research and development or transfer of knowledge in areas of common interest. The ongoing research projects are Design and implementation of architectures adapted for analogue-digital conversion and image processing at low, medium and high levels (i-Caveats) and Intelligent, distributed and PROActive system for the optimization of road signs. (PROA), Lab Communications Radio Applied to Traceability (LABRAT) and Support to technological entrepreneurs in Talavera de la Reina (GIRL POWER).
