Universität pompeu fabra is an institute for higher education in Barcelona, Spain. It was founded in 1990 and was named after the Catalan philologist Pompeu Fabra.
Currently, its academic community comprises of about 9568 undergraduates, 3319 master and 1156 doctoral students with 594 teaching and research staffs. The University offers 22 undergraduate degrees, 25 official masters, and 9 PhD programs, as wells as around 100 UPF masters. The goal of university is to become an an outstanding institution for its high quality in teaching, excellence in research and a strong vocation for international outreach.
The university organizes its studies in three main fields of social sciences and humanities, health and life sciences, communication which are closely interconnected and structured around three campuses, all located at the heart of the city of Barcelona. To promote research and transfer activities university is developing a research park in the fields of social sciences, humanities, communication and information technologies, which coordinates its activities in the fields of health and life sciences with the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park to provide them with greater international visibility.
One of the important assets of university is its international links and projects with the best universities in the world. At present, it has collaboration agreements with 40 universities ranked among the worlds top 100 according to the Times Higher Education 2012-13 ranking.
