University of Antwerp, established in the year 2003, from the merger of three separate institutions, UFSIA (Universitaire Faculteiten Sint-Ignatius Antwerpen), RUCA (Rijksuniversitair Centrum Antwerpen), UIA (Universitaire Instelling Antwerpen)is one of the major Belgian universities located in the city of Antwerp. As a part of its healthcare services to the society, University of Antwerp has developed a centre called University Hospital Antwerp (UZA). At the University Hospital Antwerp, the best patient-friendly tertiary care is provided. Every year 27,000 patients spend night at the centre and with the manpower of 2800 people including 400 doctors and 1400 nurses, nearly 600,000 patients are treated under the 38 highly specialized units. The University of Antwerp has provided great leaders, politicians and researchers to the world. Paul Stoffels cofounder of Tibotec and Virco studied medicine in the University of Antwerp.
