The University of Galati was established in the year 1974 which is a public university. It consists of more than 15000 students currently and has twelve faculties. It is a public university located Galaţi, Romania.
The rector of the university is Iulian Gabriel Birsan. It constitutes an admin staff of about 1275. Since several years, the specialists in various regions of education fields have been trained in this university. In the year 1991, the University of Galati was renamed to "Dunărea de Jos" university based on the historical background in the city.
