The Institute of International Relations was founded in 1949, under the cordial care of Premier Chou En-lai, is a well-established institution of higher learning. Over the years, the party and state leaders have paid attention to and concerned about school work. The proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Deng Yingchao and other comrades have repeatedly visited the school, and teachers and students cordial conversation, to give great care.
Vice Premier Chen Yi wrote the school title. Deng Xiaoping, Chen Yun, Ye Jianying and other central leading comrades are also in different historical periods, the construction and development of our school has made important instructions. The school was the first batch of "new ambassadors" to start training courses; the 1950s, the first focus on foreign contemporary language learning teaching methods; 1964, was listed as a national key colleges and universities; in 1981, the school became the first batch of master One in one year; in 1983, the first to complete from a single foreign language institutions to multi-disciplinary compound institutions of the transition.
