It was formed as College of arts in Duke 1924 became as University college of Northampton in 1999 gained full university status as “The University of Northampton” in 2005. The University achieved Midlands Business Awards Most Enterprising University of the Year (winner) February 2014. It was recognized as a top 50 UK university and the highest climbing university in the Guardian University Guide 2014.
