SDL has been established in 1959. SDL has been responsible for the design, fabrication, and operation of sensors on over 400 payloads ranging from aircraft and rocket-borne experiments to space shuttle experiments and satellite-based sensor systems. Since the mid-1990s, SDL has also been developing innovative technologies for the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance community. SDL is headquartered in the Jake Garn Space Research Complex near Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Encompassing over 220,000 square feet and nine buildings. Innovation Campus includes office and conference space as well as the following facilities: State-of-the-art computing facility, Modern, comprehensive machine shop, ISO 5 (class 100) clean rooms with full contamination control services, High-bay integration areas, Environmental test facilities, NIST-qualified calibration and characterization facilities, Spacecraft command and control center, Laboratories for full optical, mechanical, and electrical system design and assembly. It also offers to the students that full and part time positions and student employment opportunities. Institutional Repositories (IRs) bring together all a Universitys research under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that research.SDL works closely with USU faculty to transition basic research topics and collaborates with numerous other research universities around the country. SDL’s research in conjunction with universities can take place under ITAR and security restrictions as required by customer needs. SDL supports the Utah State University’s Summer Citizen program, which offers courses to more than 700 senior citizens each year. SDL has provided tours and presentations to over 100 participants.
