On behalf of the Uttarankhand Sanskrit University, situated in the auspicious and divine town of Haridwar, It gives me great pleasure to welcome and pay my respects to the congregated scholars, lovers of Sanskrit, teachers and students.
In this land of the lord of the mountains and the blessed Bhagirathi river, the auspicious stream of Sanskrit and its traditions have been flowing for many ages. In fact, India's own culture and traditions are firmly said to be linked to the Himalayas and the Ganges. Eleven years ago, the Government of the State of Uttarakhand has established this university of Sanskrit to safeguard the timeless heritage of Sanskrit and to present to the World the entire glory of Sanskrit in all its divinity and greatness.
Our Hon'ble Governor, His Excellency Shri Krishna Kant Pal, our Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Harish Rawat and Hon'ble Sanskrit Education Minister Shri Mantri Prasad Naithani have a keen interest in ensuring the expeditious establishment of the Sanskrit language on the global stage. Our Hon'ble Chancellor is deeply interested to provide a meaningful and rightful foundation to this World renowned University to achieve this purpose.
I humbly appeal to all the Professors, teachers, non-teaching staff and students of this University and its affiliated colleges, and to all my friends who have an interest and love for Sanskrit and its culture, that they devote their energies, abilities and available means and strength so that we can ensure that the flag of Sanskrit continues to fly high among the highest peaks of the Himalayas.
