William Moore College of Technology (Moore Tech)

Moore Tech (Wm. R. Moore College of Technology) is located in Memphis, Tennessee and is one of Americas oldest vocational institutions. Founded in 1909, the college is private, non-profit, and operated and governed by a self-perpetuating board of trustees. Operation is entirely independent of any other college system. The college is the result of a life-long dream of William R. Moore, who was born near Huntsville, AL, in 1830. The first class convened in January of 1939. Initially no tuition was charged. Today approximately 65 percent of costs are paid from the college trust fund. The college curricula has evolved over the years to keep up with the needs of a changing job market. The college offers programs such as Associate Degree of Applied Technology, Plumbing, Maintenance Technology, Welding, Machining Technology, Industrial Electricity and Plant Maintenance, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Heating. Moore Tech has provided important vocational training to tens of thousands of students throughout the mid-south.

The mission of William R. Moore College of Technology (Moore Tech) is to provide students with the training and skills necessary to become successful in business and industry. It is the goal of the college to provide students with a working knowledge of the skills needed to enter employment in the program area of their choice.

Currently the college offers two scholarships. The Pyramid Peak scholarship assists deserving recent high school students and individuals up to the age of 21 at Moore Tech who show financial need. This program can be used for both day and night programs.  The Optimist scholarship is also need-based and is available to students ages 18-24. If you have financial need or your Federal Financial Aid does not cover any or all of your tuition and fees, you need to apply for the scholarship.
