Winthrop is a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center which offers sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care in virtually every specialty and subspecialty of medicine and surgery. We are a major regional healthcare resource with a deep commitment to medical education and research, offering a full complement of inpatient and outpatient services.

The Continuing Medical Education (CME) mission at Winthrop-University Hospital (WUH) is to Promote life-long learning and all desirable physician attributes expressed in the core competencies, now universally adopted across the medical education continuum. Identify the professional practice gaps of the medical staff that might be addressed through the CME process.

Winthrop offers a wide range of on-site professional and continuing medical education programs. They have an extensive online catalog of accredited (physician CME and nurse contact hours) audio recorded presentations for selected grand rounds including Advances in Medicine, Pediatric Grand Rounds, and the OBGY Visiting Professor Lecture Series. New series and accredited content is added weekly. Sessions are available in On-Demand and Podcast formats for easy listening. All sessions are free. Critical care medicine is practiced using a multidisciplinary team approach consisting of board certified Critical Care Intensivists, Attending Physicians and a well-seasoned team of Physician Assistants in the fields of Cardiothoracic, General, Trauma and Neurosurgery. Combined with the knowledge and experience of Critical Care Nurses, Respiratory and Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Social Workers, the educational experience will be truly interdisciplinary and well-rounded.
