Yili Normal University is a teacher’s college located in Yili, Xinjiang, China. Yili Normal University is an institution of higher learning in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. Its is situated in the north-western border city Yining. Today, the university has 18 departments and a school for adult education with 32 majors for the four-year students, 12 majors for the three-year students, and 3 majors for postgraduate students. The university takes four-year courses as its basis (one more year for the minority students to study Chinese), for which it is vested with the authority to award the degree of Bachelor of Arts. There have been overseas students from America, Britain, Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Kazakhstan, and Kirghizstan at the university, who have come to study the Chinese, Kazak, Uighur and Xibo languages. here are currently 7,943 full-time students, 150 postgraduates and 3,961 adult students enrolled at both campuses. There have been overseas students from America, Britain, Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Kazakhstan and Kirghizstan at the university, who have come to study the Chinese, Kazak, Uighur and Xibo languages. The university staff totals 831, and among them there are 490 teachers (including 34 professors and 159 associate professors). The university has its own unique characteristics in the areas of the Tangjialeke study, Kazak culture study, Xibo culture study, western region study, Yili study and basic mathematics. In addition, a number of study results from these areas have aroused international attention.
