Jiangsu Second Normal University sits in Nanjing, Jiangsu province and was formerly known asJiangsu Education Institute in 1952. It has established partnership with more than 20 institutes of higher learning and scientific research organs in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia, as well as Chinas Hong Kong and Taiwan. Education in Jiangsu: Over recent years and with the aims of reinforcing Jiangsus position as Chinas provincial education powerhouse, speeding up modernization processes, promoting educational reform and stabilizing recent achievements, Jiangsu continues to strive conscientiously to realize the balanced development of basic education, the innovative development of vocational education and quality development of higher education. In Jiangsu, there are now 134 colleges and universities with about 1.8 million students. INTERNATIONAL TRAINING : Jiangsu-Manchester Center for International Educational Development is one of the four overseas teacher training bases for the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education (JPDE). The center provides a unique opportunity for primary and secondary school teachers as well as school administrators from Jiangsu to exchange teaching resources, do research in education and teaching reforms and expand their professional knowledge. Staffed with full-time professional faculty and a service team in fully-fledged facilities, the center is capable of meeting all necessary needs of trainees. SuOn College: SuOn College is jointly run by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the Ontario government and the Ontario Ministry of Higher Education.SuOn College, located in Toronto, Canada, is an international educational organization managed by Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange. Collaboration with Lawrence Technical University began in 2003 and has laid a solid foundation for teacher training and other exchange programs in the United States.
