Established in 1834, the University of Bern is situated in Swiss capital of Bern. It is a public university which is regulated and financed by the Canton of Bern. The University of Bern functions at three stages, which are university, faculties and institutes. The university's highest leading body is the Senate, which is accountable for delivering statutes, rules and regulations.

The university has about 15,976 students across bachelor, master and doctorate programs. In addition to the usual disciplines the university also offers sport science and theatre studies. The university consists of eight faculties which include Theology, Law, Business, Economics, Medicine, Humanities, Veterinary Medicine and Human Sciences.
