As per available reports about 521 journals, 270 Conferences, 383 workshops are presently dedicated exclusively to Cell Division and about 3,440,000 articles are being published on the current trends in Cell Division. In terms of research annually, USA, India, Japan, Brazil and Canada are some of the leading countries where maximum studies related to Cell Biology are being carried out. As reported in Wikipedia, Cell division is the process by which a parent cell divides into two or more daughter cells. Cell division usually occurs as part of a larger cell cycle. In eukaryotes, there are two distinct type of cell division: a vegetative division, whereby each daughter cell is genetically identical to the parent cell (mitosis), and a reductive cell division, whereby the number of chromosomes in the daughter cells is reduced by half, to produce haploid gametes (meiosis). Meiosis results in four haploid daughter cells by undergoing one round of DNA replication followed by two divisions: homologous chromosomes are separated in the first division, and sister chromatids are separated in the second division. Both of these cell division cycles are in sexually reproducing organisms at some point in their life cycle, and both are believed to be present in the last eukaryotic common ancestor. Prokaryotes also undergo a vegetative cell division known as binary fission, where their genetic material is segregated equally into two daughter cells. All cell divisions, regardless of organism, are preceded by a single round of DNA replication.
Cell & Developmental Biology is an academic journal – hosted by OMICS publishing GROUP – a pioneer in open access publishing–and is listed among the top 10 journals in Cell Culture. Each year research scientists have noticed a rise in the number of congresses being held in this field. The Journal Cell & Developmental Biology provides a unique platform to researchers and scientist to explore the advanced and latest research developments in the field of medical and life sciences, thus bridging the gap between researchers and young scientists.
