Budapest University of Technology and Economics being established in 1782 was the first institute in Europe to train engineers and was considered to be the ancient institute of technology. More than 110 departments and institutes function under the university. It comprises of 100 lectures and 400+ researchers and numerous degree holders of about 21000+ are across the world and the university alone provides 70% of the total engineering degrees in Hungary. There are other organizations like companies established or owned by the University, welfare institutions, student or teacher activity groups and other organizations associated to the University. The university offers the courses of civil, mechanical, architecture, chemical technology, biotechnology, electrical engineering and informatics, transportation engineering, vehicle engineering, natural sciences and economics including social sciences.
